Australian-based music company UNFD and their white-hot fist of success made a serious impression Stateside this week with the signing of LIMBS, the first US-based band to ink a worldwide deal with the label. The Post-Hardcore ensemble is now in a state of cat-like readiness, with talk of their debut album coming out through their new label later in the year.
Needless to say, the band are beaming over the news, with vocalist Chris Costanza commenting, “UNFD has welcomed us with open arms. We’re excited to continue working alongside people that believe in and support what we do as a band.”
It was getting harder and harder to not notice the Tampa Bay quintet who proved their mettle back in 2014 with the release of their maiden EP, Admission. The release quickly found its footing not just with the bands swelling fan base, but also with the so-called gatekeepers of the scene, whom met the release with unanimous approval. Over the course of just three tracks, the band managed to send a chill down the spine of all those who consider themselves to be peers, showcasing a vice-grip handle on the Post-Hardcore sound with plenty of unique twists and turns pushing them far away from a ‘middle of the road’ sound.
As is the usual outcome with a successful release – the road began to call LIMBS, who responded with a run of DIY shows throughout mainland America. Before long they were picked up by genre-buddies Saosin to join them on the road. As did Envy on the Coast and Hail The Sun just last year alone.
Once back home, LIMBS didn’t stop – at the end of last year, the band teamed up with Underoath’s Tim McTague to begin working on their follow up EP Sleep, which would go on to meet the hype of its predecessor, before surpassing it.
Now, having amassed considerable hours on the road and in the studio, LIMBS re-grouped with former tour mate Beau Burchell (Saosin) to work on their coveted debut record, which is slated for a late-2018 release through their new home of UNFD. No doubt we can expect Australian tour dates to come soon after.
The announcement speaks volumes for UNFD, who are now clearly focusing their gaze on the international market for worldwide deals. So be it known, other territories – hide your kids, hide your wives, UNFD is coming for your artists.
